Repost from @vitkusortho With Mother’s Day on my mind I want to address a question that I’ve been getting a lot lately from my fellow mommas at what age do I need to bring my child to see an orthodontist?? According to the American Association of Orthodontists the recommended age for children to get their first check-up with an orthodontist is age 7. Why? At this age permanent teeth are beginning to erupt and an initial screening can ensure there aren’t problems develop...ing. Just because teeth seem straight doesn’t mean there aren’t things happening beneath the surface. I prefer to see children at a young age before all the teeth erupt. A lot of the time treatment is not yet recommended, but sometimes we detect a problem at this young age that is much easier treated when caught early (we’re talking impacted teeth, crossbite, missing teeth). Even when treatment isn’t yet recommended, our Growth Guidance program lets me begin tracking children’s growth and development so that if treatment is needed at some point it can be as effective and efficient as possible. We want what’s best for all children healthy, happy smiles! Consultations at the office are complimentary no referral needed, but also don’t hesitate to message us questions you might have. Transformation Tuesday #beforeandafter Michael came to us with very severe crowing and very narrow dental arches meaning all of his teeth were collapsing in towards his tongue. Treatment was recommended for both the health of his teeth and bite and to improve his smile. He sure loves smiling now! Congratulations Michael!
