Hello, everyone! Some members of Columbia VSA will be joining other schools in a virtual COLLEGE FAIR, next Sunday, October 25th at 11AM EST! We will be reviewing the basic college application process and high school students will have opportunities to ask questions to many AMAZING colleges across the United States! Joining us will be Harvard, MIT, UPenn, Caltech, etc. This event is open to everyone, but will be primarily focused on Vietnamese and Vietnamese-American high school students. PLEASE SHARE TO ANY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT YOU KNOW! Open to international students, too! RSVP at the event below, and reach out to us if you have any questions! See you all there <3

Xin chào các bn! Surprise... VSA is back! We are excited to announce our virtual programming this fall, which will be community-based rather than events-based with many opportunities to hang out casually. We look forward to announcing our first study break and kickback once we've scheduled it based on poll responses below!... https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ML6FNFS

As Asian Pacific American Heritage Month comes to an end, we hope everyone had the chance to celebrate their culture in one way or another. However, it is equally important to contemplate the role of Asian-Americans in the fight against police brutality and systematic racism. Recently in Minneapolis, Minnesota, George Floyd was killed at the hands of a white police officer Derek Chauvin after repeatedly saying that he was not able to breathe. In this tragedy, officer Tou Tha...o, a Southeast Asian-American, is also equally as guilty for the murder of Floyd as he stood there and did nothing while Floyd lost consciousness after being choked. George Floyd passed away at 46 years old. May he rest in power. It is important to recognize that Asian-Americans are more privileged than other minority groups in the United States. Therefore, we must use our voice and power to stand with the black community by first recognizing our privileges, and secondly, by doing what we can to empower the black community. Below are resources about Asian allyship for the black community and funding campaigns and petitions that we implore you to consider. 20+ Allyship Actions for Asians to Show Up for the Black Community Right Now https://medium.com//20-allyship-actions-for-asians-to-show Petition for the officers who killed Floyd to be charged with murder https://act.colorofchange.org//justiceforfloyd_george_fl/ GoFundMe for Floyd's family https://www.gofundme.com/f/georgefloyd Accountability is when officers are charged and convicted with murder. Justice is a George Floyd would have been alive today. Justice will never be achieved until the most disenfranchised are uplifted. Words will never speak as loudly as actions, but we--at CUVSA--hope that you will take action. Thank you.
