This year has been tough for many. It’s been full of challenges, obstacles, fear, grief, and change. It’s kept people apart, brought some closer together. It’s been divisive, but also lit up the vital need of inclusivity and connection. It’s seen people stumble, fall, or hit a deep low. It has been full of feelings, adaptation, and growth. And, has not always been easy to navigate. But this is what I know to be true: even when we may have felt like we were on an isolated isla...nd, we were not alone. And through it all, this year gifted us the opportunity to evolve, to transform, to focus on what really matters. To be a better human. To recognize the indelible spirit of our fellow human beings and nature as a whole. And right here, right now, we want to thank you every one of you, who helps allow us to continue doing what we do in this business. Every local shopper (from the farmers markets to the sugarhouse store), every long distance order across the country, every chef, baker, food-maker, & restauranteur, every store that stocks our products, and every person that picks them off the shelves and takes them home. Here and far, all of you. Our gratitude and appreciation for you is unending. To be able to exist in a community, both locally and non-locally, that supports and nourishes our family farm forward is a blessing.

Way back when, when we first started making granulated maple sugar, we used a pot and boiled it on the stove. After boiling, the syrup would need to be continuously stirred and stirred by hand, until it ended up granulating. We’d always make sure two of us were available to take turns stirring, and it seems like I’d always end up standing on a chair to get better leverage when my arm got tired. Nowadays, we use a machine that stirs it for us, and after it’s finished we sift it until it’s just right. Nothing added, just organic maple syrup that’s been boiled, stirred, and sifted.
