*** Fireworks Notice - Village of Waverly - 6/24/2021 *** With July 4th approaching quickly we would again like to remind our residents that the State of New Yo...rk has very strict regulations concerning the sale, use and possession of fireworks. The only legal fireworks that can be possessed in our state without a permit are sparkling devices which are regulated by size (see link). We would like our residents to take several things into consideration about fireworks as we approach Independence Day: We are very lucky in Waverly to have an active community of veterans whom have served this country. Some of our veterans suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the effects of fireworks may exacerbate or trigger the effects of PTSD. So before you illegally set off a firework please consider your actions and the effects they may have on our veterans and our community. Fireworks also pose risks to the safety of your neighbors, their homes and to the many many pets in the Village of Waverly. More pets are lost on July 4th than any other time of year. Because of the rainy forecast, today's Storytime will be in the children's room.

Just a reminder that tomorrow we start our expanded open hours! Our schedule will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Browsing and computer use will be open during these times, and curbside pickup will still be available for those who prefer it.

We will not be hosting tax prep at the Library this year, nor have we heard anything from AARP. Please reach out to them directly. Thanks.

From Waverly PD ... *** Waverly Village Hall will be closed to the public 11/30-12/4 *** Due to the scheduled Covid-19 rapid testing next week Village Hall will be closed to the general public for the entire week.... Village staff will still be working and can be reached at 607-565-8106 for any inquiries or concerns. The drop box for correspondence and bill pay will be available after 6PM each day. Please remember to pre-register for a test.

We'll have regular curbside hours Wednesday and Saturday. Happy New Year, and good riddance to 2020!

** Update 12/21/20 11:00 AM ** *** Snow Removal - Parking Notice 12/21/20 *** The Waverly DPW will start the process of snow removal in the business district to...night at midnight. Parking will be prohibited starting at 10PM so as to ensure a clear roadway for the crew. The area of focus for tonight's snow removal is the portion of Broad Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Fulton Street which will be closed to traffic. Other areas of the business district will be addressed early Wednesday AM (Tuesday overnight) Any vehicles remaining on the roadway in these areas will be towed at the owner's expense. *** Snow Removal - Business District - To commence early Tuesday 12/22 @ 3:00 AM *** The Village of Waverly DPW will begin the process of removing snow in the downtown business district early Tuesday morning at 3AM. Crews will work until approximately 9:00 AM and then re-start again early Wednesday morning at 3:00 AM. Broad Street will be closed from Pennsylvania Avenue to Fulton Street during this process and parking will be prohibited. *** Update 12/18/20 3:00 PM - Snow Emergency Lifted *** The Snow Emergency for the Village of Waverly has been lifted at this time but a parking and travel advi...sory remains in effect. Due to the high snow piles most village streets have become narrower thus permitting less room for travel and parking. Motorists should continue to park off-street and avoid all unnecessary travel. Please be particularly mindful of this in the business district as space is very tight. DPW crews are continuing to work through the weekend, let’s give them some room. At this point, not knowing what's going to happen tomorrow, this is our plan: -- We will be open Wednesday for regular hours, unless the storm rolls in earlier than anticipated. -- Assuming cleanup can be done overnight and early Thursday morning, we hope to be open regular hours then as well. Public libraries are the biggest source of book challenges, but not the only one.
