With the forecast for very low temperatures and extreme wind chills, Dryden Fire Dept. & Ambulance would like to offer the following tips to help keep you safe:... Be careful with alternative heating appliances such as kersone heaters & electric space heaters etc. Keep them away from curtains, blankets and furniture and do not leave them unattended. Check wood/coal stove chimneys and do not burn them excessively hot. Do not plug space heaters into extension cords or plug strips. Do not use open flame heat like propane torches etc. to try and thaw out frozen pipes. If you have faucets/pipes that are prone to freezing, let it run a trickle and open cupboard doors around sinks to let Warm air get to outer wall. If you have a high efficiency furnace with the PVC pipe vents, make sure they are kept clear of snow and ice. Vented moisture will freeze and block the ends of the pipes. Dress appropriately for low temperatures and extreme wind chills if going out. No exposed skin! Make sure your car is ready with a fully charged battery and full gas tank. Check on your neighbors. Especially the elderly or disabled. Bring pets indoors. Most of all, you know it’s coming. BE PREPARED!

A friendly reminder with all of this projected snow to come. Travel safe and help out if you’re able.
