Perfect gardening weather! Planting seedlings, sowing root veg seeds, and transplanting perennials 4-6 pm. can you dig it?
Garden meet up tomorrow afternoon 3:30- 5:30. Lydia will be there to lead site tour for new gardeners. Bring a friend! Take a plant, or a book! #LFL31036 Feel the Love : )
Syracuse Grows is delivering our compost today- could use some help unloading (one pickup) around 11:30. give me a call (Lydia) if you are available.
Our member dues to Syracuse Grows have been mailed for the 2021 gardening season. First meet-up this week to tour the site- Thursday April 8th 4-6 pm I'll go live and share a video for those who can't make it, and post a Zoom link for checking in that evening/ next weekend.
Signs of Spring! Come paint garden signs with me (Lydia) this weekend at McCarthy Mercantile @Wildflowers with @AlchemicalNursery- our local permaculture people!
Need seed? A selection of seeds are available today until June 1st in #LFL31036. Flowers & fruits/ vegetables for direct sow, or starting indoors. "Take what you need, and leave the rest" I suggest taking pictures of the seed packets for planting info and to ID seed, or if you take the whole envelope, please return what you don't use. We have left a few small baggies in the basket, or you could bring envelopes.... If you have surplus seed you would like to swap/ donate, we welcome any additions! A small selection of books and gardening magazines will remain in the library. If you need small pots or soil, we have those too in the storage benches. Happy planting!
we are stage 3 and buzzing with bees this week!
One "hour of power" grew into 2, rockstar volunteer Jessica joined Lydia for the evening, and that is 4 total woman-hours of work completed today: weeding, watering, raking, transplanting in the shade garden, installing a lavender border in the front circle, plant identification, harvesting salad greens, screening finished compost, potting up plants to give to our neighboring community garden, down the road! Tomorrow evening, we will be at it again, 6-7.
We won't mow this May! Cheerful Golden Dandelion & Abundant Purple Dead Nettle are the colors we waited for all winter, and make great first forage for the bees.
