One of the amazing side benefits of organizing this coming summer's Riverlink Park reunion of classic Amsterdam rock and pop bands is that you get to communicat...e with the people who played in those memorable groups This past week I had the pleasure of phone conversations with two of the greatest drummers from my high school/college years. One told me he will definitely be coming to the Amsterdam Waterfront Foundation's Amsterdam Battle of the Bands Reunion with as many of his old bandmates as possible. The other drummer has promised me he will talk to the members of his old group and seriously consider taking part in what is shaping up to be an epic celebration of this town's rich tradition of music makers. We now have groups from every decade of the last half-century lining up to play in this event including a few amazing percussionists who I guarantee will add whole new meaning to the phrase "Drums Along the Mohawk"! During the first week in March the Foundation will be announcing the final lineup of bands taking part in the Reunion Battle. If you were a member of an Amsterdam Band that played at anytime between 1960-2010 we'd love to hear from you and you still have the rest of February to try and get your old group back together for one last nostalgic gig.
