Some exciting news as we head into the holidays! CFF the national home for the START model’s training and technical assistance program has just received a ...Promising rating from the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse. This allows states and communities to fund START programs that can prevent placing a child in foster care and, if placement is necessary, return children home safely and sooner. Equally important: START helps end separation trauma for children, while cutting costs through either shortening or eliminating foster care placements. CFF Executive Director Dr. Nancy Young applauds the tireless efforts of the former and current START affiliates and research evaluation teams who paved the road and built the evidence for this achievement. CFF’s START Program Director Tina Willauer, who also played a key role, thanks START’s invaluable family mentors, advocates, child welfare case workers, supervisors, program managers, and community partners who strive every day to make a difference in the lives of our nation’s children and their families. START will continue to support improved outcomes for children and families affected by parental substance use disorders and child maltreatment. Contact START to learn more about implementing the model in your community! http://bit.do/fLY6q #START #BetterTogether #strengtheningpartnershipsimprovingfamiliesoutcomes

The New York State Citizens Review Panels for Child Protective Services denounce human rights violations in every form, especially those against people of color.... We stand in support of the fight against any violations of civil rights and a basic sense of justice. The impact of racial injustice and continued disparity in services to minority communities shreds the fabric and stability of families. We honor this moment in history by prioritizing anti-racism advocacy, highlighting bias within the child welfare system, and working with our partners and families to ensure safe, humane, and effective responses to child abuse and neglect. In addition, we acknowledge the historical legacy of unjust treatment of people of Color in numerous systems, including law enforcement. We want to use our collective voices to demand transparency and fairness in examining the recent and unnecessary deaths of Black citizens at the hands of law enforcement. Their lives mattered! Black lives matter!
