Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day In honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, The West Elmira Fire Department would like to acknowledge all our brothers, and sisters in blue uniform that preserve peace, and law and order. Many a time you do not get thanks for providing these services. Law enforcement is met with suspicion, and distrust. Subjected to second guessing and criticism. Every day, local Police Officers, Sheriff Deputies, State Troopers, and other... Law Enforcement Officers leave their homes and love ones to protect the rest of us. They do not know the dangers they may encounter. There is no guarantee that that will return home safely. In addition to your law enforcement duties, you and your colleagues are required to perform the roles of Drug Treatment Provider, EMS. Mental Health Professional, Crisis Interventionist, and Domestic Violence Counselor. You also assist the Fire Service, and EMS at Fire scenes, and Accidents and, many of these calls. So, to our Brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement , Thank You for all you do. See more

Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays from the firehouse to your house. Hope you cleaned the chimney so Santa doesn't get his Santa Suit dirty. Did you check your Smoke Detectors for the holidays ? Remember we have to make it safe for you, and Santa. Oh by the way firefighters and Santa like All kinds of cookies. So when you are baking cookies for Santa, make a cookie or two for the firehouse. The firefighters at the station would sure appreciate them. The members of the Fire Department want the community to have a Healthy, and Safe holiday.

With the up coming snow storm, please keep the fire hydrant close to your home clear. 3 feet all around the hydrant is recommended. You will be doing the fire department, and the community a big service. Hopefully the Fire Department will not have to use one this winter season. Hope everyone has a joyous holiday season. Stay safe .

Please take a moment today to remember all that died on this day. May we never forget. On this day, we remember the heroes who lost their lives during the #PearlHarbor attack in 1941 and the survivors who were forever shaped by the events on that day. #HonorThem #PearlHarbor79 #GenMilley: 79 years ago today, 2,335 service members lost their lives during the attack on #PearlHarbor. On behalf of a grateful nation, we will never forget the valor, heroism and leadership displayed by America’s Greatest Generation on the infamous day.
