Today we remember Martin Luther King, Jr. and other Civil Rights leaders. This semester our cadets will be engaging with conversations about the movement and Dr. King’s life, especially through the HI105 writing program. First published in 2015, the West Point Guide to the Civil Rights Movement is a digital compendium of sources from the movement and includes Dr. King’s writings and speeches. Dr. Hooton’s HI460: American Civil Rights Movements will spend the semester studying the spectrum of Civil Rights Movements from 1940 to the present. We are committed to discussing the history of Civil Rights as part of our larger goal of developing and inspiring leaders of character.
