#MathleteMonday Cadet Radford Swent is a #USMA2021 Mathematical Sciences Major from Greenville, SC. His hobbies include fly fishing, hiking, and fantasy sports. His favorite math class is MA371 (Linear Algebra) because it taught him many different ways to think about and solve problems that he had become accustomed to solving in more inefficient ways. He is completing research on the causes of fish biodiversity in various regions and drainages of South Carolina. He will commission as an Ordnance officer and hopes to look back on his career and feel that he served his country well and is deserving of the exceptional education he received at USMA. #MathleteMonday Cadet Aidan Place is a #USMA2021 Operations Research and Economics Dual Major from Chillicothe, OH. His hobbies include hiking, fishing, and cooking. His favorite math class is Linear Algebra because it is highly useful in other areas of Mathematics. He is completing research on the propensity to invest among individuals from different demographics, such as age, sex, occupation, and geographic location. He will commission as a Military Intelligence Officer with a Branch Detail in the Field Artillery. After serving time in the military, Aidan hopes to pursue an occupation related to business and/or data science. #MathleteMonday Cadet Reilly McGinnis is a #USMA2021 Operations Research Major from Macungie, PA. Her hobbies include playing soccer, waterskiing, fishing, and hiking. Her favorite math class is MA476 (Mathematical Statistics) because it challenged her to think of problem solving and statistics in an extremely complex manner which eventually allowed her to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the foundations of statistics. She is completing her senior thesis on mo...deling COVID-19 using Spatio-Temportal Statistics to enable predictions about COVID-19 trends, considering both time and space. She will commission as an Engineer officer and possibly become an Operations Research/Systems Analysist (ORSA) officer in the future. #MathleteMonday Cadet Bonnie Romeo is a #USMA2021 Operations Research Major from North Plains, OR. She is an Army Women's Basketball Manager and a C4 Cowboy! Her hobbies include hiking and traveling. Her favorite math class is MA391 (Mathematical Modeling) because it was an engaging class that encouraged problem solving through real world application. She is part of a research team developing a co-travel algorithm that can integrate with existing Army OSINT platforms to enable Army Soldiers to geolocate and track potential persons of interest. She will commission as an Aviation officer where she hopes to fly Blackhawks. One day she hopes to return to the Math Department to teach! #MathleteMonday: Cadet Madison Teague is a #USMA2021 Operations Research Major and Latin American Regional Studies Minor from Cornwall, NY. Her hobbies include skiing, reading, and hiking. Her favorite math course is MA476, Mathematical Statistics, because it was the most challenging class she has ever taken, but she also gained the most from it. CDT Teague is currently working with COVID-19 data to find better ways to model disease spread and is looking at which responses to the pandemic would be most beneficial in the future. She branched Engineers and would to serve as a combat engineer platoon leader, and later receive her Master's Degree in Data Science. As we close out the semester, let's congratulate all of our Top Gun, Annual Student Math and Second-Class Excellence Award winners!
