The Journal News compiled a list of new and renewed restaurants that have opened in Westchester during the pandemic, including two from White Plains! The Blind Pig of Westchester is a speakeasy themed cocktail bar that opened in December, and have since introduced a food menu. Located at 174 Martine Avenue. The King Crab-White Plains is a Cajun seafood restaurant that opened on September 8th. Located at 250 Main Street, second floor.... Coming soon, the owners behind Colombian House Restaurant in New Rochelle will be opening a second location at 175 Main Street at the end of November! #BuildUpWhitePlains

For details, visit the event page: White Plains OktoberFest: Picture Scavenger Hunt TOPFSCHLAGEN INSTRUCTIONS:... Topfschlagen (Hit the Pot) Gear: 2 or more children and/or adults candy or chocolate as prizes a metal pot a wooden spoon a blindfold or scarf Topfschlagen (Hit the Pot) Rules 1. One player is blindfolded and spun a few times to lose orientation, then placed on the floor 2. The pot with candy or chocolates underneath is hidden somewhere on the floor in the play area 3. The blindfolded person must now crawl around the floor, tapping with their spoon, while the other players help by crying out warm, hot, or cold depending on how near or far the seeker is from the pot. 4. When the pot is found by banging on the pot, the blindfold is removed, and the candy is collected. It is now the next person’s turn.

Sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beginner-german-language-class LEBKUCHEN COOKIE RECIPE Gingerbread Ingredients: 200g butter... 550g honey 250g sugar 1 pinch of gingerbread spice 30g cocoa powder 1,200g flour 1 pinch baking powder 2 eggs 1 pinch salt Glaze Ingredients: Chocolate icing as required Roughly 150g powdered sugar 1 fresh egg white Food coloring, if desired Instructions: 1. First, slowly heat butter, honey, sugar, gingerbread spice, and cocoa in a pot. Once a smooth mass has formed, remove the pot from the heat and allow to cool. Sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl, then add salt, eggs, and the honey mass from the pot and knead into a dough. 2. Place the dough in a bowl, cover with a foil or cloth, and leave to stand at room temperature for half a day or the whole day. 3. Line several baking trays with baking paper. Paint a heart shape (or, of course, any other motif) on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. Spread flour over a large area of the work surface and roll out the dough. Place the stencils on the table and cut out the hearts with a sharp knife. Then spread over the baking trays. 4. Bake gingerbread hearts at 200 C (392 F) in a preheated oven for about 12 to 15 minutes.
