Some of you may have noticed that WSP is no longer running the trivia at The Jolly Onion. This wasn’t my call. In fact, I found out the same way you probably did--through the grapevine and by reading a Facebook post mentioning that trivia would be resuming with a new business. No call, no text, no email, no respect, and when I contacted the manager - NO REPLY. When trivia resumed post-lockdown, I was super happy to be back providing a way for people to go out socializing, l...aughing, and having fun. I created new fans of both Whole Step Productions and The Jolly Onion--not only because I'm great at what I do, but because I'm likeable. The proof was in the pudding, as they say. I am not the average trivia host and I don’t present the average hacky trivia. I believe people respond to the atmosphere I create beyond the trivia as well - the vibe, the music, the jokes, engaging with the kids, etc. When the slow season hit Jolly Onion in December, I was told trivia would be on pause until things picked up again. During this time, I did not actively seek out another location to fill that Thursday night slot because I do business with integrity and stick with an establishment until we agree our time is over. If I knew this was gonna happen, I would have gotten a jump on that and saved my pocket some real damage. These days you might expect to be ghosted by someone you matched on Tinder or whatever app, but I never expected to be ghosted by a business I worked with for a year. I was always on time, promoted their business, expanded their customer base and brought my own followers out more often than not (which says a lot when the place is the middle of no where). On the other hand, weeks would go by when they wouldn't promote trivia on their end at all. That will always be a mystery to me... I could go on, but you get the picture and my Mom always taught me "When they go low, you go high". We all vote with our wallets. Now that you have this information, you can decide where you spend your money. Thank you to the hardworking staff there who made me feel comfortable and appreciated. Thank you to my loyal Drink & Think followers and thank you for reading. Keep your heads up, it’s been a soul crushing past year, but we are finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Be sure to stay updated on what’s next for Whole Step.
