Carla Gambescia is back on November 24th at 7pm, with a very meaningful presentation on Raphael! Raffaello Sanzio, better known simply as Raphael, was one of the great artist polymaths of the Renaissance, along with Leonardo and Michelangelo. He is famous for fashioning the style known as High Renaissance and was the essential man painter, architect, designer, tastemaker, entrepreneur, team builder, courtier, and visionary, yet today it is trendy to dismiss his work of ‘...too beautiful.’ What nonsense! 2020 marked the 500th anniversary of his death. Join us for a comprehensive exploration (and celebration) of the beauty, grace, complexity and range of his extensive body of work. Please join us for a wonderful Webinar presented by a brand new speaker to WICC, Dr. Rudy Magnan. This publication was written in the belief that Leonardo's study of his natural surroundings, his advanced perceptual skills and his continued interest in learning, all played a significant role in developing his creativity. He challenged established mindsets with the conviction that all earthly things are connected. He spent years observing nature's secrets ,documenting his obs...ervations and the creative thinking that resulted. While much has been written about Leonardo's incredible scientific discoveries, his futuristic inventions and his great works of art, we fail to realize that Leonardo da Vinci developed incredible creative thinking that needs to be understood and applied in this new creative paradigm where creative ideas are the currency of the future. Can't wait to see you all on Tuesday, November 17th at 7:00pm. Click the link for more information and to sign up! https://wiccny.webinarninja.com/live-webina/551931/register

Hey everyone! Don't forget to sight up for a great FREE Webinar given by Mark Hehl...THIS THURSDAY 10/1!! Like many Italian Americans, Mark Hehl grew up with a foot in two worlds. At home, his mother maintained many rich southern Italian traditions. In school, and on the streets of Brooklyn, he was American. After writing his second book An Immigrant’s Dilemma, Legas, 2019, Mark realized that he did not do an adequate job of passing down these wonderful southern Italian trad...itions to his children. This motivated him to set out on a two-year quest to solicit contributions from individuals with similar Italian upbringings resulting in the book: Ameri-Sicula: Sicilian Culture in America, Legas, 2020. This way these rich traditions would not be lost and could be passed down to future generations. This presentation will highlight some of these wonderful traditions and cause those in attendance with similar backgrounds to reminisce. Every summer since our inception in 2007, we have hosted our outdoor summer movie series, Cinema Sotto le Stelle. To much delight, our Members and Guests have enjoyed Italian movies screened in a serene setting in-front of our building, in the village’s main square. With many calls and emails asking for us to host the series, we submitted proposals with extensive safety measures and policies in place. These were to ensure the safety and well-being of our Guests remained a pri...ority. Unfortunately our request was denied, being that Governor Cuomo’s NYS guidelines prevent us from hosting such event. These policies and safety measures were extensive and went far beyond what the state mandates stores and restaurants to follow. We hope that in the near future we can host this sought after event, with our Members and Guests safety at the top of our list. We will update you once we get clearance. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
