The Board of Directors of the Community Preservation Committee would like to thank everyone for the generous donations made in honor of Nancy Hussey. Nancy had been a part of the Community Preservation Committee since its inception. She served on the board at various capacities, most recently as Secretary. Nancy touched the lives of everyone she met and will be greatly missed. As some may know, Nancy loved nature and being outdoors. As a way to remember her, all donations ...will help fund the beautification of the chapel grounds as well as maintaining the chapel interior. Your thoughtfulness and generosity are much appreciated by the Hussey family and the Community Preservation Committee. https://www.legacy.com//auburn/name/nancy-hussey-obituary

Willard Memorial Chapel 23.10.2020

The Community Preservation Committee is excited to announce, that we are reopening on a limited basis beginning this Friday, Sept. 18th! In addition to these new measures, we’ve instituted enhanced cleaning schedules and standards, reduced the Chapel's visitor capacity to 20 people per tour, and created a low- and no-touch visitor experience throughout the building. The Covid 19 virus created the perfect storm of revenue loss for Willard Chapel with the loss of three rental... tenants, wedding, bus tour and event cancellations. Thanks go out to so many who helped us through this period - Dave Ross of Ross Landscape for maintaining our memorial gardens, our Board of Directors for their help and guidance and Ann Padlick, Pat Messina, Joann Covich and Miki Dorsey for cleaning the chapel, community room and vacant offices. While we haven’t been open we have been preserving the Chapel. The final phases of our $335,000 EPF grant are nearly completion with the installation of the ice melt system on the Welch Building. The total restoration of the wood window surfaces and the extensive roof and gutter repair on the Welch Building is complete as well as the masonry study done on a portion of the chapel. We are putting together the BID specs for the $550,000 DRI grant which includes interior restoration of the finished surfaces in the Chapel, cleaning of the Tiffany Chandeliers as well as exterior landscaping work to further implement the Master Plan for the Chapel Grounds.
