The wintry pattern will continue with cold weather today, followed by a general 1-3 inch snowfall Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Another system may produce several inches or more of snow Monday night and Tuesday.

Ice has rapidly developed on Lake Erie over the past week in this cold pattern. We have not had a cloud free day recently to get a great look in satellite images, but there were enough breaks in the clouds yesterday to reveal plenty of ice on Lake Erie. #nywx

Cold temperatures will continue across western and north central NY this week. Sun pillars are possible when the sun is low in the sky, around sunrise and sunset. One was spotted in Snyder, NY this morning.

Another bout of widespread snowfall is expected to arrive tonight and last through Tuesday. A general 2 to 3 inches of snowfall is expected.

Forecast Update [8:25AM], lake effect bands continue off of both lakes this morning. Pictured is additional snowfall totals for today. Also, a Winter Weather Advisory has been added & is in effect for Monroe County through 7 PM tonight. All other hazards remain in effect.

Lake effect snow continues off of both Lakes Erie and Ontario this morning. 1 to 2 inch per hour snowfall rates are possible within the bands. See the graphic for current positioning of the bands. Bands are expected to remain stationary today.
