It's been a long, long time, but we're greasing up the gears of this Facebook account again. Hello, world!
Great new piece by Celeste Monforton in the Pump Handle highlights the public health research and injured workers' stories underlying the workers' comp policy trends featured in NESRI's new fact sheet! http://scienceblogs.com//destructive-trends-in-workers-co/
http://www.nesri.org//national-trends-and-developments-in- The National Economic and Social Rights Initiative (NESRI) has published a new fact sheet on national legislative trends and development in workers' compensation. It identifies seven destructive trends that are undermining workers' human rights to health and work with dignity, putting up new barriers for injured and ill workers who are trying to get the care and income support they and their families need. We are excited to share this with you all and invite you to use it, post it and share it as you see fit. We would also love to hear whether you all are seeing these trends and developments in your respective states or if there are other issues that are coming to the top right now.
Check out the latest Workers' Comp Hub newsletter for stories on injured and ill workers' human rights.
Workers with the Workers' Center of CNY and Worker Justice Center of New York continue to draw attention to the dangerous, deadly New York dairy industry.
Thanks to the efforts of Workers' Center of CNY and Worker Justice Center of New York, OSHA will begin surprise inspections of New York dairy farms on July 1. Dairy workers are routinely injured and sometimes killed on the job, are often forced to live in completely inadequate housing, and have poor access to medical care and other vital services.
