Today we officially start work on our $9.5 million transformation of the International Pier. Converting the underutilized private pier into an attractive, pede...strian-oriented, public boardwalk will serve as a great, new attraction that will draw people to our community. Our plan will make our waterfront more accessible, creating a space that'll generate more traffic and economic activity along our world-class waterfront. This project, along with the renovation of Wright’s Landing Marina, allows Oswego to capitalize on our natural assets while protecting our shoreline from future flooding. See more

I’m pleased to announce today, the start of $16 million in improvement projects that will allow us to further capitalize on our community’s most significant nat...ural asset: our waterfront. The projects include the first major renovation of Wright’s Landing Marina since it was built nearly 40 years ago, and an opportunity to completely transform our International Pier, currently an underutilized gravel pier, into a pedestrian oriented boardwalk, serving as a regional attraction. The projects will repair damage caused by recent historic flooding from Plan2014, and build back and protect our waterfront better than ever, allowing us to showcase our world class waterfront. During Mayor Barlow’s town hall Thursday night, he stated the major challenges taking place at Wright’s Landing and International Marina at this time. In addition to COVID-19, both marinas are already under construction, with more construction planned later this summer. Similar to last season, we’re already experiencing higher than normal water levels. Between the three challenges, the entire marina season is under threat. There is no chance of either marina opening prior to July 13th. The discussion at this time is if either marina will open at all in 2020. We will announce the decision as soon as it is made.
