Governor Cuomo today warned that restaurants may be required to close indoor dining or further reduce indoor capacity to 25%, as soon as next Monday, December 14, 2020. The Governor is singling out restaurants in light of new guidance from the CDC released on Friday. Any decision to further reduce indoor dining will be made on Friday and will be based on each region's hospitalization rate versus hospital capacity. He said this new rule will not apply to gyms, salons, or other... businesses at this time. The key metric for the state to decide on further restrictions will be "critical hospital capacity," said Cuomo, explaining it will be gauged by the seven-day average hospitalization rate. If hospitals in a given region are anticipated to hit a 90% capacity level within three weeks that area will be put on pause, Cuomo said. A more immediate restriction, Cuomo said, is that if after five days the regional hospitalization rate has not stabilized, the state will "clamp down on indoor dining" in New York City and will mandate a reduction from 50% to 25% capacity in other parts of the state not in orange zones considered microclusters for higher spread. Much will hinge on hospital capacity as the number of patients with ailments related to the coronavirus grows across the state, Cuomo said. The Governor anticipates releasing this data by region this Wednesday and Friday. We will continue to monitor this situation as more information is provided. https://forward.ny.gov/daily-hospitalization-summary-region
