CHANGE. Thought Offering: "Be willing to allow changes to happen when they come up in your life. Where you DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE is exactly the area where you NEED to change the most. Mantra: I am willing to change"... -Louis Hay Things change. It’s what they do. It is their job to change so that they can show us the places we need to grow and expand so that we can ultimately experience the one thing that lasts forever- The Divine. Fighting change when she shows up in your life will only cause more pain. Sometimes we ignore a change we know is coming, prolonging the inevitable, causing more pain. Sometimes we hold on to the way things were instead of embracing what is, again causing more pain. When change arrives, no matter how she comes, whether as a whisper in your heart or a big sudden burst through the front door, and all of the ways in between you can instead make the choice to welcome her with open arms and ask her what messages she has brought you and in what ways she is showing you your greater capacity for love that you may have more joy in your life. IS. Thought Offering: Suffering is Optional Yoga Sutras 2:16 ... How much of your pain is being caused by dwelling on something that has already happened and/or worrying about something that might happen in the future? If you are like most humans- the answer is likely- A LOT. But a beautiful thing can happen when you awaken to the power of IS. To be in this moment IS what is real, the past has already happened and cannot be changed, only learned from and the future is yet to come and can only be prepared for. But how do you learn to live in the present moment-? Learning to live in the IS-ness (as I have taken to calling it. :) ) happens on many levels as part of the yoga practice and I give you many easy ways to do so as part of my new offering THE MAT with Nicole Katz. It comes in waves. Most of the time I'm ok. I'm more than ok- I am joyful. But sometimes I'm not.... Right now I'm not. Right now I am in the wave. She has just crashed over me and is having her way with me. She's tossing me about and I am trying to feel which way is up and which is down. I have been in this place before and I know that fighting it will only make it harder to decipher my direction and so I relax and wait. Conserving my breath. Knowing that this wave will pass and I will find my footing once again and stand. But right now I am in it. I am in it and it is uncomfortable and I want it to be over- that's the fighting- I remind myself to accept that in this moment I am uncomfortable. I don't need to race to escape it. I need to let the wave do her job of shaking things up that I might see something I haven't been able to see until now. I can't see that yet. And so I wait and I do my best to comfort myself and hold my own hand with love as I watch myself in the process of birthing my better Self. One day I will hold her- today we do the work of being in the discomfort of birthing. I hope you join me as I jump on the mat with you this week in honor of my deep dive. Link in Bio See more

Hello Yogis! Anyone else tired of living in Viceland? We've been here for a while now and it's not as much fun anymore. Not sure where Viceland is? Well it's that place you go every so often- likely daily since the world as we knew it stopped. That place that promises to make you feel better. Maybe at one time it did but now you just need it as part of your day to "calm down" to sleep to find enough peace to do it all again tomorrow. Maybe it's a thing, a place, a thought or... action. But it's a person place or thing you engage in that makes you feel a little better but then a little bit worse every time. It makes you feel worse because deep down you know it's no longer in right relationship, no longer a treat it's become a poor substitute for the real work of figuring out why this is happening for you and what to do about it. It's numbing you out rather than checking you in. What else is there? How else do we survive all of this unknown and the seemingly insurmountable loss behind us and work left to do in front of us? How do we train ourselves to be reslient to difficulty and able to move forward in a positive, helpful, and yes JOYful way?

Hello 216-ers!! This week is week 4 of forearmstand- and the moment has come- we are lifting off! No more thinking about it or prepping for it- we're kicking up and getting to the business of doing it! It's ok to incubate new ideas and plans and dreams, it's important actually- the time spent mulling around in one's brain is time spent planting conscious seeds into the unconscious so they can get us on our way to our dreams. But alas thoughts without actions are just thoughts. So now we must act, we must move, we must move out into reality.

Hello Yogis! This week on the mat, as always, is a lot like life off the mat. If we ask ourselves to do things that we are not meant to do or keep ourselves from living, doing, being, saying the things we are meant to- suffering follows. The bravery to move out into our lives rooted in our own space of truth, even if we fumble- is always going to feel better then pretending to be happy with something that is actually causing our heart suffering. ...Does that make sense or resonate with you right now? This week on (and off) the mat we are going to try to find the natural curves of the spine and keep them as the world gets turned upside down. Yup, another great muscle to strengthen right now. You see, when we are rooted in our own truth finding the way in the darkness is much easier and the pain much less. As we try to create a better world for all we all need come to the table ready to do our part! What did you come here to do, in this moment, in this time? Ever thought you were doing one thing and it turns out you were doing something totally different? Of course we all have and if you have been practicing yoga for any period of time you will have many many of these examples as the practice calls us to awaken to our actions and their consequences, many of which are causing us pain and by changing those actions we can change our experience of pain. I don't have to tell you the perfect mirror that this area in this shape is for ...this moment in our collective history. Many of us are just now waking up to a painful truth. Having awoken it is time to begin the work of stretching and strengthening ourselves and our communities that we may have a solid foundation for which to build the world as it was always intended to be.
