Researching In Zoom Meetings I LOVE the shared screen option Zoom provides. It really pulls the children into being involved with the subjects that are being discussed. In today’s meeting a child brought her stuffed sloth to class. Discussion and questions emerged, leading me to research with the children. ... Here are the questions from the children: Why do Sloths move so slow? How do they protect themselves from predators? I think they live in the trees. Do they only live in rainforests? Many facts about Sloths were discussed in today’s meeting, all led by the children’s curiosity’s and self directed thinking. #earlychildhoodeducation #distancelearning #reflection #sharingthoughts #intellectualteaching

Hats off to my Young Einsteins Families who have lead the most recent project at home ... Mud Paint! I’m hearing it was a fun one Here are the details:... Mud Paint Materials: Dirt Water Plastic Cups ( recycled containers could work) Craft Sticks or Outdoor stick ( for stirring) Paint brushes Process: You will need 1/3 cup of dirt for each color you make. Make dirt a smoother paint with less lumps by dumping dirt onto a hard surface and use back of shovel to smash out the clumps. Add a little bit of water to each cup and stir with craft stick. You want the mud paint to be the consistency of pudding. Leave one cup plain, this will be your brown color. To make other colors squeeze 10+ food coloring drops into each of the other cups. I have found blue, green and red work best Thick art paper is best with this project. #Processart #openendedwork #exploring #discovery #workingwithnature #creativearts

Risky Play! My ten year old son and eight year old daughter were staying very busy yesterday in our backyard. I was in the front of the house, arranging plants. My daughter eagerly comes to me asking for lunch, requesting to eat outside. ... I went inside, began making their lunches, looked out the window and saw what they had created I was pleasantly surprised. My kids showed me they were able to.. Assess and make judgments on risky play. Handle tools safely and with caution. Have confidence and independence. What I found most interesting was my son’s emotional balance quickly went into a bit of a panic. He wanted me out there, quickly. I walked out to his fire pit, watching him attempt to put it out. I shifted the focus, began reflecting on the details he put into his work. I told him I wanted to enjoy his fire. His emotions began to rebalance. We sat around it and ate lunch together. Then I heard all about his experience in building a successful fire.

A snapshot of our Zoom meeting today. The children and I (and parents) are entering our 14th week of distance learning. I designed and led Zoom meetings with intentions for the children to engage deeply. In this photo the children and I were reflecting on one child’s clay sculpture, done at home. We were observing and comparing his original drawing to the 3D piece. ... If you would like to hear ways i was able to pivot from classroom learning to virtual learning message me your email address and I will send you a link to my free webinar. #classroom #education #distance #distancelearning #virtuallearning #pivoting
