I cannot believe the amount of hate in this world. It is unacceptable and we must rise against it. I am committed to looking at my own white privilege and I am asking forgiveness for the times when my completely unearned white skin has given me an unfair advantage over black and brown people. I am looking deeply at the relative ease and safety of my life, compared to someone who lives in a constant state of concern that they may be unjustly accused, arrested or killed while s...o kindly asking to breathe. Just to breathe. The most basic of all human needs. Our precious breath. I can’t breathe. I am so sorry for my conscious and unconscious role in the deep suffering experienced by people of color. I am so sorry for my silence. I am so sorry that I can never truly understand the difficulty of being a black person in this world and my heart is breaking with the weight of this injustice. It’s been a while. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to share this on here, but the time feels right, as it’s World Cancer Day. I am in the middle of an epic discovery in my journey with cancer.
