Lizzard Kishnievsky (pronouns: they/them) has been on a queer awakening journey for the past 10 yearssince the age of 12. It started when my family and I took a trip to San Franciso and we just happened to show up the day of Pride [Parade]. I was like ‘Whoa, this is amazing. I’m an ally.’ And, then I was like, ‘No, I’m gay,’ Kishnievsky says. A decade removed from this self-actualization, Kishnievsky now identifies as a genderless individualand says that has had its fai...r share of ups and downs. Now, as a student, peer tutor for the Learning Center, and incoming president of the New York City Pride Alliance club, Kishnievsky is using their experience and passion for education to help students on their journey at New York Tech. If you’re looking for a club to join this fall, Kishnievsky recommends the Pride Alliance, which has hosted numerous activities in the Pride community. For those on their own journey of self-discovery, the architecture major advises: You can hold space for anything that is growing inside of you. Even if you’re afraid to say to others that you’re queer, saying it to yourself means a lot, says Kishnievsky, adding, Keep nurturing yourself. #NewYorkTechPride #Pride

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine Dean Nicole Wadsworth, D.O.'s (pronouns: she/her/hers) coming out story or, as she likes to call it, her "moment of self actualization is a unique one. I came out in a presentationto practically the entire medical school," Wadsworth says, recalling her experience as a medical student. "It was transformative from the standpoint that it wasn’t a secret, and it didn’t have to be. I was comfortable just being m...e. As dean of one of the largest medical schools in the U.S., Wadsworth says some of the ways she supports the LGBTQ+ community in her profession include being transparent about her identity, being positive about who she is, and most importantly, sharing her career path with others. It’s our place as medical providers to not judge. It’s to educate and help people achieve wellness, advises Wadsworth. Creating an inclusive teaching and learning environment for everyone, especially for those who identify as LGBTQ+, is not a switch you flip, she says. We are not diverse and inclusive because we read a book. This is a journey that we collectively have to go ontogether. #NewYorkTechPride #Pride

Now he's serving others by wearing his mask. Q: Who do you wear a mask for? A: I wear a mask because I care about my community. Whether it’s someone I know or a complete stranger I may be standing next to on line at the grocery st...ore, I want to DO my part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
