https://gf.me/u/y8f6ba The Clarkstown Town Board recognized Trey Rolnick - an 8th grader at Felix Festa Middle School at last night's Town Board meeting. Trey has three older sisters and one of them, U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Samantha Rolnick, is serving overseas in Italy. Due to COVID, many soldiers serving overseas are not able to come home, even for the holidays. Trey came up with the idea to create a go fund me Operation Santa: Sam’s Soldiers to put together care packages fo...r his sisters unit - 173rd Airborne Brigade, 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion. The kit includes toiletries and basic winter essentials, such as blankets, hats and gloves for the troops. Thanks to Trey’s parents Russ and Dawn Rolnick for helping him in his efforts. EARLY VOTING Early voting is under the auspices of the County of Rockland Board of Elections. The Town has simply given a permit to the County to use our facility. Given the large number of voters coming to Town Hall Supervisor Hoehmann has directed the following actions to improve safety for those voting. First, the Clarkstown Police Department closed Demarest Avenue between Town Hall and the Police Department and Town staff have erected barriers to allow for lines to for...m. We have posted reminders for social distancing. The street will remain closed for the week. Second, the Town has and will continue to sanitize our building daily given the increased number of people in the building. Third, Supervisor Hoehmann has asked Town staff to park remotely on early voting days to ease the need for parking spaces. We have also relocated numerous Town vehicles to free up more parking. Finally, the Town Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to a remote meeting rather than an in person meeting. This will allow for more parking and will keep added people out of the building. If you have any questions please call the Board of Elections at 845-638-5172. https://rocklandgov.com//board-of-elections/extended-hours/
