#VOTE. The ability to vote and to do so safely and without challenge is a right AND a privilege. I recognize that more clearly than ever these days. I've found that I turn to quiet making when words escape me or when it seems the only alternative is to scream into the void. This week has definitely found me in that state, and weaving this expression of our rights has been a salve for a sinking heart While I've been weaving this #tapestry, I've tried to brainstorm ways tha...t I can help remove the barriers to voting - work the polls? Hand out snacks while voters wait in line? Distribute USPS stamps to folks who need to mail a ballot? At the very least, encourage a compassionate understanding of the definition of *disenfranchisement*. What's your plan to vote and to make it easier for others to do so? Spot the #weaving. Clocking in for some park time this weekend in one of Brooklyn's best (and highest!) spots. Rethinking materials...one positive thing happening in my #textile sphere these days. I made this #handwoven sample for a workshop I was scheduled to teach at @tatterbluelibrary using their namesake palette. All the yarns you see here are either handdyed in the studio or leftovers from other projects (hello, hem!).
