Remote Produce Safety Alliance Growers Training & Farm Food Safety Plan Writing Workshop March 3rd & March 4th Join Virtual PSA Trainers on Wednesday March 3rd via Zoom to gain your required food safety training by the Food Safety Modernization Act and many 3rd party food safety audits, such as Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs).... PSA Trainers will spend approximately seven hours of instruction time covering content contained in the area of worker health, hygiene, soil amendments, wildlife, agricultural water, post-harvest handling and sanitation, along with how to develop a Farm Food Safety Plan. Each participant farm will receive a manual including curriculum module slides and slide notes divided by tabs with learning objectives. Additionally, references, a glossary, and FSMA-specific information is included. On March 4th growers can join us for a day focused on writing their farm food safety plan. Registration is limited to 30 farms at a cost of $35/farm. Registration is required by February 28th. Our neighboring Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County is introducing a virtual Gardening Workshop Series. If you are interested in these topics as a beginner or experienced home gardener, we encourage you attend any or all of these free educational sessions via Zoom presentation. They feature presentations focused on home gardening, and resources from the Cornell Garden Based Learning Library and Master Gardener program. These workshops will be hosted and prese...nted by Cornell Cooperative Extension staff, regional Master Gardener Volunteers, and other local gardening experts. Each session will focus on one or two gardening topics, with time allotted to questions and answers. These first two sessions will each be offered at two different times. Presentations will cover topics on wintertime garden planning, preparation, and care. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Winter can be the most important time of the gardening year, when planning and preparation occurs. Learn about different methods for planning your garden and get a jump on your growing season.
