Colonial Little Theatre 30.03.2021

The Colonial Little Theatre has received a donation from a local couple, that has enabled the theatre to purchase one hundred fifty new chairs for their auditorium in the Colonial playhouse on One Colonial Court in Johnstown. Colonial Little Theatre is the second oldest community theatre in New York state, since 1938, and her doors remain shuttered due to the pandemic. Thanks to volunteers and board members, the theatre has been cleaned, repainted and given a face lift inside..., including the new chairs for the auditorium, purchased from, and installed by Derby Office Equipment in Gloversville. Updating of stage curtains, revamping the restrooms, and other pricey items not able to be purchased through the theatre’s budget are also needed, and contributions to assist in bringing these projects to fruition are necessary and most welcomed. According to donors Bill Crankshaw and Wally Hart, This gift to Colonial Little Theatre is intended to help the theatre to get through these unusual times and look to the future when the CLT stage will once again be filled with talented performers, and these chairs, filled with adoring audiences. We could think of no better way for us to help an organization that has survived and thrived through generations. We met each other because of our involvement with the theater and had many wonderful experiences over the last 30 years. Most importantly, our gift is made in honor of Carol Russo, a star, volunteer, board member and supporter of CLT since the early 1970’s. There may be others in the long history of this great theater organization who have been involved both on the stage and on the board of directors, but Carol has never wavered in her support for community theater. She was a role model to both of us and to so many others and her continued dedication serving as a volunteer for nearly 50 years, deserves to be recognized. It’s because of Carol, and so many others like her, that this community is still fortunate to have its very own Colonial Little Theatre. Colonial Little Theatre continues to find creative ways to keep visible during its closure due to COVID. Visit the theatre’s website at www.coloniallittletheatre.org or on Facebook to learn more about how to contribute to CLT and ensure its future in the world of community theatre, and fulfill its goals to make the theatre experience a more comfortable and enjoyable one.

Make a donation to support the arts! https://coloniallittletheatre.org/index.php/about-us-2/ Community Theaters have had their doors closed and their auditoriums empty for what seems like an eternity. ... Last March two board members decided to use the time of closure wisely and check off a few items on a very long list of to-dos at the theater. With the help of some amazing volunteers and generous donations of paint, plumbing, and construction supplies, CLT has been getting some TLC. We aren't done yet, but we can not wait to show our actors, production teams, and audience members, what we have been up to. We would love to be able to continue to give The Colonial Little Theatre, and it's theater family, the resources it deserves. Please consider donating during this time of closure, due to Covid regulations. Theaters survive on ticket sales. Without these productions we are all trying to find ways to ensure our not-for-profit businesses will be able to reopen and curtains will rise again, when all of this passes. You can donate by texting the code DONATE-CLT to 44-321 OR click our donation link below! Thank you for continued support of the arts. https://secure.givelively.org//colonial-little-theatre-inc

The Colonial Little Theatre would like to thank Bob’s Trees, in Hagaman, for offering the opportunity to work the bailing station today. For every tree CLT volunteers bailed, a portion of the sale went to the theater. Businesses helping businesses. During theater closures, due to Covid, partnerships like these are helping to keep community theaters going.

The Colonial Little Threatre would like to share a huge THANK YOU, to the many talented performers who organized an outdoor cabaret, all on their own, and were gracious enough to donate the proceeds to the theater. It was so nice to have an opportunity to see so many of you share your talents once again! Theaters may not be open to perform, but music is alive and well in all of you.

A great group of performers, consisting of singers from many previous CLT youth and adult productions, have come together to share their talents. They have set out, on their own, to plan and organize an afternoon of music in the park. Donations collected at this outdoor, socially distant performance will be donated to the Colonial Little Theatre, while productions must still remain on hold, due to Covid. ... Check out their FB event for more details.
