Overdoses have occurred in the past for people using crack, cocaine and other substances beside Opiates. Use safely and always assume your supply may be contaminated. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented disruption to the normal operating procedures of health and human services agencies. Unfortunately, the necessity for overdose prevention and response has not abated during the pandemic. Please be aware that the substance use community faces increased risk as support services shutter or slow down operations, hospitals face severely increased caseloads, and people who use drugs are asked to socially distance from their support or safety groups. In 2012, Catholic Charities began Dining Out For Others as a way to support local restaurants; they especially need our help today. Last week, we asked our supporters to contribute to the Emergency Assistance and Food Pantries of Catholic Charities of Columbia and Greene Counties as a part of our first-ever virtual Dining Out for Others, and you did not disappoint! Theresa Lux, Executive Director, shares her appreciation for your generosity here.... Now it is time to reward yourself with delicious meals from our communities’ restaurants. Every meal ordered in (or out) will help support your local restaurants and neighbors. Take time off from cooking! You can view the full schedule of participating restaurants here: http://www.ccrcda.org//upl/file/2020-Dining-Out-Poster.pdf

"How do we choose who to quarantine?" A LOT goes into this decision... the general rule of thumb is "15 minutes of close contact within 6 feet of the positive i...ndividual". Of course, there are more factors that go into this (inside vs outside/masks vs no masks). EVERY SITUATION IS UNIQUE! **Contacts of a contact are NOT required to quarantine. If you came in contact with a positive person, the others around you are not required to quarantine. They would be considered "a contact of a contact", which means they did not have direct exposure for at least 15 minutes with the positive person. The people around you are not required to quarantine, unless they've also had direct exposure. We often suggest that these people still limit their interactions, monitor their health/symptoms, and remain vigilant. While we have the authority to put a person in quarantine, it is the sole responsibility of the quarantined individual to comply with the guidelines. If you have any complaints about a person not following their quarantine orders, please call the hotline at (833)789-0470.
