October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Especially this year with all that has transpired let's show our pastor Colleen Quirion, deacons Lanny Barsale, Deborah Gansinger, Karl Schwarznegger and musicians Lanny Barsale and Ron Lower some love and appreciation by either leaving them a comment below, sending them a card or reaching out to them with a phone call.

It is easy to think that there is nothing good coming out of this pandemic with lockdowns forcing us to change the way we do church. With the lockdowns requiring on-line church and physical distancing, it can be difficult to believe that God could still be working all things for good even during these trying times. But could God actually be using this time to redefine and refine His Church? Here at Christ the Shepherd one of the positive outcomes of the pandemic is a ne...w definition for who represents our worship service family. What used to be defined as a service strictly reaching an in-house local regional community has now become a virtual and in house community with a local, national and international outreach. As an example of this, God has used this new worship model to enable us to establish a relationship with a community in Tanzania, Africa through an on-line worship attendee named Elisante Godfrey. Through this connection God has presented us with a real flesh and bones answer to the question: Who is my neighbor? As Elisante has presented to us the very different impact the pandemic is having on his community, God has used this opportunity to bring two communities from across the globe together to faithfully respond to an urgent need. This week we received the following message from Elisante: I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the great food support you have given us, in fact it is a great love you have for me and for my community. We have made good use of the money you have spent on me to do what is right. We got food for 136 people equally, our priority was children and they are happy to have a meal after school. but we have also grown to dig water down (as I sent you in the picture) now we expect to get tap water twice a week. We grew up with other challenges but we have partnered with the community to use alternative methods. On behalf of all of them I would like to thank you for your generous heart, we have organized a day of thanksgiving mass in which we will wish you good health and prosperity. I am writing this letter with tears of joy, since I was born we have never had water from a tap in our village, you have really helped us a lot. Thank you very much, and wish you a good time. from your beloved child Elisante Godfrey So can God, even in a pandemic, be working all things for good? The answer is a resounding YES!
