I will be continuing my "pause" on new client consultations for at least another week while I catch up on my backlog of work for existing clients. However, there is also good news ahead! My office has been physically closed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I am scheduled for my second vaccine shot in April, so I anticipate reopening the office for client meetings on at least a limited basis by May. I will probably limit this to one person at a time for awhile before I begin meeting with clients and witnesses in larger groups. For now, I anticipate that multi-party meetings will continue to be through Zoom, Skype, or Microsoft Teams.
I am putting a two-week hold on any initial consultations with prospective clients, so that I can concentrate on getting caught up with my backlog of paperwork. I hope to make enough progress in the next two weeks to be able to resume initial consultations. My outstanding obligations to complete work for existing clients must come first.
Please note that I will be closing my P.O. box by the end of May 2020. All postal mail should be directed to my street address.
Several firms have already begun exploring options to make remote working a permanent part of their firm's culture.
As we all adapt to the new working environment created by the COVID-19 pandemic, you may find that your parenting time schedules need some adjustment. Often the details can be worked out amicably between parents without a contested court proceeding. Whether you already agree and just need some help getting your existing order changed by consent, or you are facing a challenging situation, attorney Ellen Ross may be able to help.

Get it done from home, not just during the COVID-19 pandemic but for the long term as well! There are out-of-court options for resolving your divorce and other family disputes, and technology has advanced to allow these processes to occur online, through a wide variety of virtual meeting platforms. Consider collaborative practice, an option where the attorneys and clients agree that if they are unable to negotiate a settlement, the attorneys will withdraw and the clients mu...st get new attorneys. Why this rule? Because it gives everyone, including the attorneys, a strong motivation to stay at the table negotiating instead of giving in to the temptation to storm off yelling "see you in court." If you already have a court proceeding, another option is mediation. This too can be conducted online now. Curious how that works? Get in touch to discuss the possibilities. See more
