IN TWO DAYS: The Arts Council of Rockland will host an online event that uses MUSEUM TOWN to discuss the subject of the arts and community development in our county. Specifically, they will focus on the example of the Garner Arts Center and surrounding community. Join representatives from Garner Arts Center, Haverstraw Brick Museum, and Haverstraw Riverwide Arts, and others for a lively discussion about how the arts can transform our communities here in Rockland County. MUSEUM TOWN tells the story of a massive museum, MASS MoCA, the town of North Adams that is its home, and the great risk, hope, and power of art to transform a post-industrial city. Officials are taking the next step in their village facelift by seeking a builder for the commercial and social development of two waterfront properties that would connect with the community's bustling downtown. Village of Haverstraw, NY officials are fielding proposals for a developer who can turn their vision for vacant 9-plus acres where people can enjoy the Hudson River, dine, play and live and link up with the downtown.
