I still have lots of space left on my nuc list. If you need bees on deep or medium frames I can add you to the list. All my queens are priduced from my own overwintered, local stock. I also sell hives as well as all equipment needed. I encourage new beekeepers to visit and actually follow us along as we work to see what is involved in working with bees. You can contact me any time for more information

I have a deal on NEW SHALLOW frames. Price will depend on how many you want. Most do not have foundation and will work great for comb honey. If you want foundation wax added I can do that also. There are also a limited number of shallow BOXES available also. They are NEW, assembled, and never been used.

Its auction time and for a GREAT cause so open up those wallets! I know that some of you have family members affected by Autism. Its a very frustating condition... and hits people in many different ways and to different degrees. I have a nephew with it as well as a couple close friends with children and grandchildren. I know that much work has been done to understand and work with it but there is a long ways to go! I have a good friend that makes these stunning gnomes all by hand and I commissioned her to make TEN with the Autism puzzle piece hats. I know from many silent auctions I have attended that for the right cause, the value of the actual product is not as important as the CAUSE. Its just a way for you to donate those BIG BUCKS to help make progress against Autism. This is what I am going to do. I am going to sell all 10 in an auction format. The 10 highest bids will get their choice of color and gender. I will update with the 10th highest bid each day so you all will know what you need to beat to be in the top 10. I know some very capable folks that are very generous so Im hoping they will want to join the fun and get on board. Bids can remain annonimous or I will give you public credit for your generousity. You can make your bids privately to me. I will also be posting this on my Hiwire Honeybees page as well as in person at my Regional Market booth on Saturday. Lets run this for 2 weeks+ and end it at April 15. 12 noon. My donation is the up front purchase price, I expect many of you to pony up the same amount or more. Lets make this count!! Have fun bidding! To start it off...the mi imum bid is $20 but I know some of you will be bidding 10 times that. See more

In honor of the impending snow storm and my wire bitch being in season with raging PMS, I am taking my buddy Brody, the 13 yr old neutered male up to camp for a... day or 2. Maybe we will get snowed in and thatll be ok. I know Brody wont mind. If anyone has bee orders or anything that needs to be passed on to me in the next couple days, you might not get an answer til Friday unless you contact me in the next couple hours. There is no cell signal at camp. And thats the story Im sticking to! See more

We spent today moving ahead adding insulation on top of hives, closing off screened bottom boards, and adding mouse guards so Mickey and Minnie can find other places to spend the winter. We finished the last of them. We still have sugar feeders to add on top of them and hopefully 1 last mite treatment. Working with hives today was pretty easy. Maybe 2/3 of the bees were down low so removing tops didnt disturb them. The other third were a little indignant about being disturbe...d on a cool day but went back inside pretty quickly... except maybe 3 or 4 that felt the need to make a real point. We do have 1 more yard that we manage for another beekeeper that needs to be closed up but thatll get done in the next week. Ive always felt if I could get hives winterized by Dec 1 I was doing well. Temps of 20 or 30 arent an issue for them. Its the temps of zero and below that take their toll and those temps dont come around til January. Any hive that needs the sugar in the feeders probably wont need it til Feb but its easier to add them before TOO much snow. Several of my yards are not accessable by truck when the deep snow hits so that emergency feed needs to be added while I can still get there with 4 wheel drive. See more

I love how these folks are using Hiwire Honey in so many of their dishes, as well as selling it retail. Truly are partner with us. Next time you find yourself in Brewerton I reccommend stopping to support them OR BETTER YET...make the short drive up on a raint cold morning like today just to get a nice hot breakfast and say hi to Christian!

This is a batch of winter feeders for dry sugar. Each hive will get one as emergency feed in case the winter runs long or they run short of honey. By painting them a bright color we can see at a glance that the hive has one. None of our other woodenware is the same color. The dry sugar in these feeders will also absorb excess moisture and reduce condensation, keeping the bees drier and healthier. We also have smaller ones that will go on top if the 5 frame hives. Now I just need to pick up about 1500 lbs of sugar to fill them!

Of our 300+ vendors, many of their families have been on the Market since we opened in 1938. Who remembers our early years? #history #farmersmarket #goodlifecny #visitsyr #buylocal #shopfresh

ITS SATURDAY! So here we are at the CNY Regional market on Park Street in Syracuse. Hiwire Honeybees has the full range of honey from the 2 oz baby bears up to the 4 lb bottles of wildflower honey produced right here locally in Lafayette. I have a nice variety of hand made candles from our own bees wax too. I have honey and oatmeal soap, yummy creamed honey, baking honey, and for you with a taste for stronger, old fashioned flavor I also have the darker buckwheat honey. With ...our increase in hives AND the great weather this summer our production has been up this year so we will have plenty of honey for all your honey needs for the coming year. Hiwire has been at the CNY Regional market for 4 1/2 years now and HAS NEVER MISSED A SINGLE WEEK. No matter what the weather, you can always plan that we will be here. Until Jan 1 we will be in the C shed accross from the coffee shop. Stop on down, see Ray, and ask about our products, our extracting process, and how we care for the bees and honey. While you are at the market you can also get your weekly groceries, all locally sourced...meats, cheeses, vegetables, baked goods, wines, cider, even sweet corn still available. I am here until at least 1:00. Hope to see you soon! See more

For those of you that bought your bees from me this spring and have not been following along, fall will soon be with us. We are running out of time to get weaker hives prepared dor winter but it is not beyong hope. By getti g to work now we can give thse hives a fighting chance ro overwinter and come back stronger next year. If you got your hive from me and need help with getring them settled in to fall and winter let me know. We have been trying to give back to our regular c...ustomers so we are not selling new bees to the same folks every year. Id rather see them surviving the winter. Most of you have been asking questions and attending meetings but there are a few of you that I have not heard from. Some of our help is "hands on"/ one-on-one and some is in more of a "meeting" type situation. Either way, I hope I can help. This is something I have always tried to do for my customers that support Hiwire but I cant force you! I hope to hear from you...and thank you for supporting my local small business! See more

This is Smokey, Hiwires "new" 2016 F150. Smokey is the official replacement for Red. While Red, my 2011 F150 was more of a beast, Smokey is much more reserved and civilized, a little less exciting but pretty in its own way and much newer. Itll take some getting used to but Im sure itll grow on me. The challenge will be to get out in the bee yards to collect honey without scratching it or getting it dirty.
