So happy to share this three-way collaboration of a slow meditative beauty between composer Kari Telstad Sundet, glass artist/videographer Madeline Rile Smith a...nd myself on bass flute with electronics. Thank you to Marc Webster for audio editing on my flute part. The second I heard Kari’s music I was really in love. Listen to how she blends the flute, nature sounds (there is a real nightingale in there!) and electronics. The effect is really stunning! Kari’s music was the inspiration for a new collection of miniature pieces for solo flute called Nature Pieces that I'm working now with 11 wonderful composers on, similar to the Comfort Pieces project from last year. This piece will be in the collection, and the electronics will be available as a download. Hope you enjoy this timeless piece and more to come on this new collection soon! *** *Timeless* "I live in a region of Norway with tall mountains, lots of forests and the Atlantic ocean roaring a stone's throw away from my house. Much of the landscape around me has probably felt, looked and sounded much the same for thousands of years. Major changes happen too slowly for us to perceive, so to us it feels timeless. This piece was inspired by Laura Lentz’s series of comfort pieces, and being surrounded by landscapes unaffected by whatever else is happening in the world is comforting to me. Being in nature can also feel like slowing down time, or getting off the carousel for a little while .
