Thursday, Kids Club Spring Break: The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, by William Joyce

(This week, we're revisiting favorite Kids Club Challenges from spring 2020. Have fun with them again!) Kids Club Weekend Challenge: Family Lego Battle! To get started: - Grab your legos, or other blocks/building toys... - Print or draw a spinner board (link at bottom of post) To play: Each player around the circle spins to get their challenge. Set a timer (adjust the time to accommodate the age of your kids, or with younger kids, work in teams), and everyone try to complete their challenge in the time. At the end of the round, talk about what you built, what was most difficult, and why. Play 5 rounds, or adapt as needed. Follow up with ice cream (optional). Let's bring back some Kids Club fun for December! Every Friday in December check in for an activity to do over the weekend (there might be other surprises along the way). These challenges can be done on your own, but if you're looking for ways to connect with grandparents, family, or friends you aren't able to visit right now, do it together over a video call! Chat about what you're doing, show each other your progress, and see what other conversations it leads to. Week 1: G...et out some fun art supplies. Choose your favorite carol or holiday song (or three), listen to them, and make an illustration (a picture of what's happening). You could use crayons, markers, pencils, collage, or a combination of them. If you're doing it with someone, talk about how the song makes you feel, and why it's your favorite. If you're making this with someone else, mail your pictures to each other, and post them in your house to make you smile (if you're not doing this activity with someone, you could still send it to someone--I bet it would make them smile too)!
