It's still Halloween at IFCA Housing!

Halloween is NOT cancelled... Sort of. Here's the thing - COVID, right? Ok, so we want to be safe. We want you to be healthy. We miss you guys. But on some lev...el, we're due for a little fun so we think we have a solution. We're teaming up with Ossining Elks Lodge 1486, Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the Ossining PAL to make sure the candy gets to the kids. (Please note: Kids is a subjective term and not a term of art. As always, little babies, big babies, little kids, Toys r Us Kids, kids who bear a striking resemblance to adults, teenagers-who-think-they're-not-kids-anymore-but-don't-yet-realize-the-value-of-youth, toddlers, tweens, terrible twos, and dads who say "lit" are all welcome). Unfortunately, there cannot be a Trunk or Treat extravaganza on Main Street this year so, instead, we're going to make a socially distancing compliant Candy Run. Suit up in your spooky best and we'll drive all over the Town and Village tossing candy from our little parade. It'll be like it's your birthday, but with costumes. And did we mention candy?! We have a LOT of candy to give out. We'll be driving around Saturday from 11am-3pm-ish (because we often go over time while trying to reach everyone). We'll publish a route with estimated times tomorrow and you know you can count on Facebook Live for updates as we go. Now for the safety brief - This is a socially distant event so we're asking everyone to stay in your own yard with your own family. Please don't congregate in large groups and in all cases, wear a mask and keep that hand sanitizer close by. We want to do more fun stuff and we're constantly thinking of ways to stay connected but we need your cooperation so the plug doesn't get pulled. Let's give the kids* something to smile about while staying safe so we can go back to block parties and movies and kickball games. We miss you guys. Oh, and if you didn't hear, there was a little rumor going around about some older kids planning a party for Halloween. That's sus. But anyway, once we know about it, it's not cool anymore so hopefully they'll reconsider. If not, we'll have extra staff working but PLEASE don't make us call all those parents to come pick up their kids. We REALLY hate when we have headquarters full of bummed out teenagers waiting for their moms to pick them up. Stay home, stay safe, stay healthy. See you Saturday!
